Design concept proposal

My concept of this site is that having an impressive experimental journey as walking through the whole site and providing the spaces with different atmosphere to enhance the experience of different art works.

In coal loader, I placed two contrast spaces that are a very open, bright, soft, smooth, natural space at the top of coal loader and a dark, dense, manmade space at the internal space of the coal loader. Those two contrast spaces represent the historic conflicts between aboriginal society and western society, nature and industries, etc.  However, I decided to connect those two different spaces as a whole by a ramp.

The top of coal loader, I employed curve lines with large green spaces to archive the notion of natural and smooth. The form of landscape can be seen as an abstract form of whale which trying to pay homepage to the aboriginal culture.
The amphitheatre located at north part of platform dig into the platform, which is a transition between external and internal spaces.
The café at end of the site which consist external seating area facing the south bush land and ocean, which can be a very calm and peaceful space for taking rest.

When I entered the existing tunnel at the first time, the atmosphere of the tunnel provide a sense of gloomy which leading me to a different world, thus, I keep the four existing tunnel at both site of the coal loader as the transition between internal gallery space and external spaces and create three void spaces between tunnel one and three as internal experimental art spaces.

As people walking into the tunnel or walking down from the platform through the ramp, they gradually losing the sense of brightness, then arrive at the first gallery space which is very dark and without any natural light, its provide a sense of completely cut off from the outside world. Then go through tunnel to next gallery which having slightly natural light through the chutes, which provide a connection between inside space with outside world. The last gallery space is same with the first gallery which is completely cut off from outside. Once finish the visiting at internal space, people would regain sense of outside world by walk though the tunnel to the bush land or through the ramp to the top garden and café. The atmosphere of each gallery can adopt different environmental requirements of different artworks, as well as enhance the quality of experience.
